What Will You Learn to Do?

• Read Music Notation. We will be learning how to read and write music! It is an important skill that every musician should have. This includes reading notes on the treble and bass clef, reading and performing rhythms, and basic music terminology.   

• Play the Piano. Yes, you will be learning how to play the piano. It might seem like a daunting task at first but if you work hard, I assure you that  you WILL learn how to play and have fun while doing so!  This unit may be substituted with a composer unit featuring listening / critique activities and by utilizing Noteflight. 

• Write Original Music/Songs. For this unit, you will be composing songs on your own. Some songs will be a traditional style song with music notation and others will be electronic music that you create using technology.  We will be writing songs using:

  • NOTEFLIGHT

  • MusicFirst - Soundation
